For the holidays, we always make sugar cookies and gingerbread houses. But I don’t typically ship off an edible holiday gift.
This year, I’ve joined in the Food52 holiday gift swap. I love the idea of sharing homemade treats with someone in this home cooking community.
So, I’m pouring through ideas to find a worthy collection of goodies. They need to be special and to ship well from my Oregon kitchen to the person in Chicago who will be the recipient of my holiday swap.
Just in case you’re in a giving mood, I thought I would share some of my best homemade gift ideas with you. So, here is my 2019 edible holiday gift guide:
Cookies

Here’s a big, bakery-style cookie that introduces tahini into a chewy, toasted oatmeal cookie with golden raisins and, if you’d like, chocolate chips.
Preserves

Winter brings citrus galore and time for making small batch marmalade. These tips and vanilla blood orange marmalade recipe will get you started.
Chocolate

A festive and simple dessert to serve or bring to your next holiday party–or to give as gifts this year. There’s no baking involved and it contains no meat!
Dried Fruit

Need more healthy snacks? It’s so easy to slice a few apples, sprinkle them with cinnamon & spices and bake them for a couple of hours to turn them into crispy apple chips.
